Go to http;//ce.nurse.com/CE359-60/Follow-the-Evidence-to-Update-Practice.

Read the article and post your message on how this is similar to or
different than what CHOA is going to be doing with EBP.

I think this article was a perfect article to go along with CHOA's strong committment to encouraging EBP by their employees. I think if you take time to read this article it helps "make sense" to a lot of what we are trying to learn now in regards to EBP. I haven't taken the test yet, but will. Thanks for the opportunity to learn!!!!!! Jamie Blackwell

I enjoyed reading this article. It makes me think about how as one who has been a nurse for a number of years, we are more likely to do things because we were taught that way or because we have always done it that way. It seems to me the younger nurses are more likely to jump into doing research and that is not how it should be. CHOA has focused on EBP for a few years and we all need to get involved. Our goal is to improve patient care after all. I have been inspired!

I enjoyed reading this article. It challenges you to reevaluate your thinking about EBP. Many don't like change because it requires you to go out of your comfort zone of doing things the traditional way. The article says that "Practice based on evidence is the foundation for professional nursing practice, not an activity reserved for specialists." EBP will reduce error and increase patient safety. I look forward to seeing how EBP improves the care we provide. I think this is article is similar to what CHOA is doing. We are using the strategies to implement EBP by having Journal Clubs and providing learning sessions to staff during their shifts.

This article was very appropriate at a time when CHOA is doing a big push on EBP. I enjoyed reading this article and it provided a good example of how we as nurses can incorporate evidence into our daily practice. I can relate to the feeling of the new nurse in the article because last year as a new grad I faced some challenges in practice.. having learned one way to do things in school and then seeing things done differently on the floor. While we may have a little ways to go on becoming comfortable with this type of practice in research, CHOA seems to be doing an adequate job of educating their employees and putting emphasis on how important EBP is to our patient care.

Laughing Great timing on this article. Not only did it give good information on EBP but a reminder that we all have information to share and something new to learn, no matter what level of nursing we are in. Thanks Ann! Very Happy Belle

I think this article is very appropriate and timely. It reinforces the importance of the EBP series that we are conducting monthly and it reminds us about the importance of using evidence to back up our practice. Thanks!

This article makes what Choa is doing with pushing EBP more understandable, not just "something we have to do for Magnet status."

I'm glad to see that this article is essentially saying the same thing about EBP as we are at CHOA. It's good to know that we're on the right track to implementing this process. It's great to get more information on this topic because the more we learn the less intimidating it is. It truly is a great way to elevate nursing as a profession and something everyone on our floor can be involved in and learn from.

What a great article! It shows how our career continues to change and grows even though many of us really do not like change. EBP will improve patient care and how lucky we are to have support from our management. Carol Casteel RN,CPN

I am glad that I read this article. It really helps to understand just what evidence based practice is and how it correlates to our nursing at CHOA also. I now have a better understanding of EBP and how to use it.

I enjoyed this article because it helps me better understand the concept behind evidence based practice. It helps me intergrate clinical expertise with the best available evidence from systematic research. Mad
